As I drove away 200m down the road, it slipped back to 3rd again. While the problem with the sticky gear 2nd to 3rd is consistant in it's behaviour, the randomness of it happening is the thing that confuses me. I took it to the dealer back then, but there was no check engine light, and they said that there were no transmission codes, and everything looks good. Some applications require multiple failure cycles in order for a service engine soon lamp to be illuminated. Hi Listo, I am sorry to hear about your woes too! Alas No, 24 hours later having driven 200ks - gear change gets stuck again - revert to items 1 to 4 above. In such cases, other components like the catalyst can temporarily compensate for the part that is broken however, these other components can only do double duty for so long before they, too, begin to malfunction.
I have to agree with you on the Lexus luxury, no optional extras and smooth and quiet to drive - I still love 'em to death. Our great wars a spiritual war. I however could not find any recall on this. This started out as a drive shaft clunk. It took a few hard stops and clunking then I get check engine light: P2714.
Had some unfortunate business on the road, smoke started to come out of my hood and it smelled rather nasty. The vehicle service manual should be consulted for more information on possible causes of the fault, along with required testing. I hoping that's a stupid statement and I'm completely wrong. Hit it with some electrical cleaner, Guess it didnt do anything. Too many people having the same issue that dealerships ignore, and when you go to specialists and experts they are scratch their heads.
. And we're slowly learning that fact. Appropriate line pressure assures smooth shifting with varying engine outputs. I also took my solenoid c out while i changed the other solenoids. Fluid I used was what the local parts store crossed it to.
The transmission eventually engaged with an abrupt movement. What could it possibly be? Usually this code comes up when the transmission is developing a problem, if it's starting to slip or has metal shavings or friction material in the oil, these particles can clog up the solenoid. The computer controlled automatic transmission uses varying degrees of hydraulic pressure to provide shift actuation and torque converter lockup. Issue: So, a service shows up two codes after engine light comes on. There have been some failures on early transmissions late '90s , but an '08 pushing much less weight should not be having problems. I've owned this truck since new in Oct '06.
Yes, pulling negative connection off battery solves the issue of P0761 and car sedately changes gear almost perfectly again but then last an hour or 3 days of driving, until codes disappear when battery disconnected again!!! It's funny, the whole reason I love Lexus is their reliability and comfort. They sent the computer off to get repaired. Any advice on how big of a repair this is? If I stop the car, take off both battery terminals and wait 15 minutes before replacing terminals and re starting the car - go through all the resetting of radio channels, air cond settings, and all electrics on windows, sun roof - bingo the car runs like new. It was a strong selling point when I was researching to buy mine. I pulled over onto the side of the road and did an oil change right then and there, luckily I had all the required materials in my tool box. So after draining old oil and changing filters, I put 5. Sometimes one or the other.
Good luck to everyone putting up with this terrible complaint and shame on you Lexus! Some type of synthetic fluid. Given the robust nature of today's emissions control components, it is entirely possible for an individual component to malfunction without leading to an immediate increase in emissions at the tailpipe. The solution is here : Toyota Avalon P2714 Possible Solution : The crankshaft sensor signals the fuel injection computer or the ignition control when the cylinders are firing. I think if money was a consideration, and was 100% going to keep the lexus I would've bought a 2nd hand gearbox and had it reconditioned and start again. I checked every resistance of my solenoids. Warm regards, Grahame nutmegs Yeah, a first for me too! Thank you so much in advance! I am not on time when seeing my clients and traveling somewhere, anywhere stress less is brilliant. What could have caused it? First tried a transmission oil flush.
You should also check that the spark plug gap is set properly. This causes the ignition coil to provide a spark and the injector to inject fuel into each cylinder at the right time. And a new battery that keeps slowly discharging??? If your spark plugs look good, problems with your ignition system can also preventing a spark. Does anyone know anything more about this problem? I would reccomend that you no longer drive the vehicle and have it serviced as soon as possible, could be the solenoid giving out or something else. I have to disconnect battery for 10-15 minutes and all is well. Now I understand the Solenoid C is the normal culprit to not being able to move from 3rd gear to 4th - however upon reading many feeds there may be a correlation between electrical issues such as loss of power from Drivers door to control all 'other' windows? Can anyone shed a good news story on this before I loose my mind if not already? And a new battery that keeps slowly discharging??? What ever happened to this? Has anyone had any experience with this? I can't speak to this problem specifically however I have had some extremely strange things happen when I accidentally short stuff. Normal driving for a week this past week, no shifting issues.
