Thanks for Your time mate! The window offers a selection of video file types that have thumbnail support, click Options to get to the settings. Windows Media Player does that and if it is the default it creates thumbnails. After install the Media Preview Configuration window will popup to allow selecting which formats to include. Other files and image thumbnails are being displayed properly, only the videos have problems. Click on the Restore Defaults button. So it seems to be a windows 10 issue and I believe after the last windows update for the Creator version. Now you should be able to browse files and folders on your computer with thumbnail previews showing up correctly.

This is making editing video projects difficult using Cyberlink PowerDirector 15, and it is hard to identify each video within multiple videos taken on the same date. I have watched the same preview for the same movie 8 times now and there is no way to get to the actual movie in. Any help would be appreciated. I don't understand the specifics as reported in this bug report, but it sounds like it's a problem with Totem's interaction with Gstreamer. When I tried it I just didn't like it, wish I could remember why. I do think k lite pack includes the icaros along wth the codecs but I think it's full of all sorts of stuff.
